Whether you’re up for an incredible travel experience, or prefer to stay closer to home — you can experience Spain with us. We offer Spanish wine and cooking classes at reasonable prices, but more importantly — an experience that you will be able to take home and share with your friends and family.

A Taste of Spain in the Rockies

Join us  in our gourmet kitchen in Longmont, Colorado, at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, to spend a fun day shopping for ingredients, learning the secrets of the Spanish kitchen while we cook, followed by a decadent and lazy evening tasting a variety of Spanish wines and learning the basics of food and wine pairing with authentic Spanish tapas. Most of the ingredients for the tapas are from Spain — many of which are unavailable for commercial purchase in the U.S. The wines will represent a wide range of styles, with the intent of helping you discover something new to enjoy at home. And, as always, this party is casual and fun – no wine snobbery involved! So whether you’re new to wine tasting, or a pro, come for a laid-back and always fun adventure — to Eat, Drink, and Be Spanish!

If you would like to book a private party, contact us and we’ll custom-design a special Spanish event just for you and your friends and family!   Classes in Longmont, Colordo or visit a small bodega and then cook  in a private kitchen in Denia, Alicante, Spain!  Email Denise@TipsyToro.com

Savor Spain in Denia, Alicante!

We’re guessing you’re not the sit-in-the-tour-bus type.  Right?  You like to meet people, learn about the culture.  Wait. No, not just learn, but experience the culture. You get goosebumps when you learn something new.  And you know there’s nothing like hearing the real stories of the local people, to begin to understand another culture.  Like how the winemaker’s grandfather used to put an extra, small barrel of wine on the cart for the drivers, so that the good stuff would actually make it to market!

Spain MapIf you know anything about Spanish wines, you know of  Rioja, Ribera del Duero, and probably a few of the other northern regions.  And if you pay a little closer attention, you’ve no doubt heard the buzz, and maybe you’re even a fan of, wines from Jumilla and Yecla.  And right beside those areas is the hidden gem of Alicante, with a long and intriguing wine tradition of its own.  But wine is not all that is made in Alicante.  There is Spain’s most famous dish – Paella — born in Valencia, just a short hop away.  And the largest olive oil producer in Spain.  And specialty cured meat producers.  And Turron,  the most famous candy of Spain.  And then there’s the chocolate….

This region, although not as famous as other areas of Spain, is one of the richest in wine and food culture, and home to festivals that will make your head spin.

Come and join us, and let us share this incredible treasure with you.

When are Classes?

When and where would you like to experience the food and wine of Spain?  When you’re ready to plan your trip to Spain, email us and let us know your plans.  We can do everything from connect you with our friend and colleague, Sali Gutierrez, who is a Spanish travel guide, and can help you plan your entire trip — to simply meeting you in Alicante and setting up custom classes based on your own preferences.  Minimum 2 people.

Recommended Dates to visit Spain:

Spain is famous for it’s festivals.  And from Valencia, down through Alicante and continuing into the south you can experience some of the most spectacular festivals in the world.  Las Fallas, Semana Santa (Holy Week), Moros y Cristianos (Moors and Christians) and La Feria de Caballo (The Horse Festival) are all unique and breathtaking in very different ways.  We highly recommend that you plan your trip to Spain around one of these incredible festivals.

As a general guideline, we recommend spring, early summer, and fall.  August is when all of Europe is on vacation, which means a lot of the best restaurants and sights are shut down — Oh!, and it’s usually very hot.  So plan carefully to get the most from your trip.
